Course A (foundation course) one year duration.

Scientific principles through the study of indegenous technology for home industries; for work in local environment and for life.

CRAFT TECHNOLOGY AND BASIC PRACTICAL SKILLS

Basic Art Craft- pottery, tie and dye, ceramics, typewriting

COMMUNICATION
English- aural, oral reading, writing, drama
Specialized vocabulary e.g. business, science, craft

CALCULATION
Programme activities for developing logical thinking. Introduction to business arithmetic and bookkeeping.

HUMAN BEHAVIOUR AND RELATIONSHIPS
This course is designed to help students with their character formation and to develop positive attitudes.

GRADING AND CERTIFICATION

The system is based on continuous assessment through the year, supplemented by monthly tests. Students will also be required to take the mid-year and end of year examinations.

Examinations: at the end of the Final Year (B2) an examination will be conducted by an accredited body and Certificate in Vocational Studies awarded to successful students.

Students may be referred in one and not more than two subjects with the exception of Communication, provided they attain 40% average in the whole exam but fail to get a pass in the particular subject.

A reference resit examination will be conducted in December.

Attendance: Regular attendance throughout the course is very important as attendance and comportment assessment influence the final examination grade. Attendance should not be less than 85%.

Conditions for the Award of Transcript

The transcript is issued to certify that the student:

has completed the course

has trained in specific subjects indicating the area of study

has fulfilled the other conditions required by the regulations.

The transcript shall indicate:

Continuous assessment grades i.e.

Attainment percentage

Comportment grade

Attendance grade

Course Exhibit

Work Experience grade

End of course examination results (theory and practical)

The examiners final grade showing the quality of pass. 

 

CONTINUING EDUCATION (Afternoon Programme) Offers a two year programme

This is a systematic regular programme on practical education each day of the week for non-school going teenagers who have had some secondary education and desire to further their education.

Specific Objectives:
To strengthen the motivation to learn
To give practical knowledge and skill training
To prepare students for self support through learning skills for income earning.

EVENING CLASSES - Ranges between 1 and 2 years

They provide the maintenance and improvement of skills necessary in employment situations of all young male and female. They also cater in a limited way for examination students, those who, while in employment seek to better their promotion prospects, and/or to enhance themselves.

The innovatory feature of these classes is a combined skills course e.g. English, Short hand, Typing. Therefore special courses are planned.

 

 

GENERAL ADULT EDUCATION

There is opportunity for women and girls to enroll in selected subjects, such as cookery, needlework and pottery remedial classes in various literal studies for which there is a minimum enrollment of 10-20 participants.

Custom Design Courses are offered in all departments on request.
